So, I guess what I mean to say yesterday was...my life is pretty good right now, but would kind of suck/be completely different if I hadn't gotten over something a couple months ago...
After four and a half years (on and off) it was time to move the fuck on...
The end.

1:57 am - Graduation
|
So, I write in this thing sometimes right...?
..like for life changing events and stuff...
Well, today (April 26) is the day I graduate from the University of Michigan with a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering. I truly never thought this day would come, but 4 years later here I am.
And let me tell you, I am quite scared for tomorrow to come. Yes I'm excited to take pictures with my friends, be in the rain in the Diag and have my parents come into Ann Arbor for the first time since I set foot in my dorm freshman year. Yes, I've got a job, plans after graduation and such, but my time here was almost certainly too short. I am not ready to leave Ann Arbor. It really is my home. This city has so much character...ugh.
I will gush more later about my feelings, but I have to be up in 5 hours, so I am going to try to sleep (in my almost empty room).
current mood: complacent

12:43 am - The Center of Winter
|
At a certain point in winter, there is a slow-growing feeling that it has just begun and it will never end and there is no way to escape it. The feeling seeps out from the center of your body, somewhere in your heart, and you become aware of the fact that you are nothing but warm flesh wrapped in wool, protected only by wool. It is an almost calm feeling. It is like despair, but it is not as pure as despair; there remains the quiet, insane hope that if you cannot escape winter, you can befriend it, give it due respect. It is like God. Insofar as you hold out the foolish, childish hope that you can dodge its wrath if not its omnipotent force.
All the seasons here in the north move toward their own end, except winter, which moves towards its center and sits their to see how long you can take it. Spring twitches impatiently in its seat like a child wanting to go outside, straining toward summer, and summer, all lush and showy, tumbles headlong toward the decay of fall. Fall comes and goes so fast it takes the breath away, arriving in brocades of red and gold and whipping them off in only a few weeks, leaving a landscape ascetic, stunned with loss.

it's funny how hard this was, and how many years it took...UM finally added gender identity and gender expression to the bylaws....
Sec. 14.06. Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action (revised September 2007)
The University of Michigan is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all persons regardless of race, sex, color, religion, creed, national origin or ancestry, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, or Vietnam era veteran status. The University also is committed to compliance with all applicable laws regarding nondiscrimination and affirmative action.

6:12 pm - life in south carolina, i suppose
|
did you know that mcdonalds has free wifi? i certainly did not until ross told me so. since i haven't had the internet for over a week, i've spent about 2.5 hrs sitting here watching kids play in the playhouse, getting funny looks from people. it's their fault for having a huge seating area with comfy couches and chairs and other things. besides, you can't even smell dead animal from over here in the corner!
in other news, i turn 21 in 6 days, funny how time goes so quickly, isn't it? i only have 5 weeks of work left. i had ash visit me recently and jnet just left here. it's nice to know people would like to see me, considering i've basically been cut off from my world for a while. i thought i was cut off when i first moved down here, but i guess i really didn't know what it was like going to movies by myself, spending all my free time reading, not talking to anyone on the phone or internet. i guess that really is alone. the worst part is, i think i like it.

http://www.apartmentfinder.com/details.aspx?aptid=104533 in case you would like to know that i live in a fucking resort.
work is fine. rossy and i go together since it takes 45 minutes.
my tendonitis hurts REALLY badly and i am barely typing. AND i have to manage to wash my hair (and me) with it.
waiting in traffic like the rest, i cursed the melted chocolate on my dress, thinking i could be half way to Montreal, instead i'm counting crows and trying not to stall.
